Delegate Scholarship Information

| WHO may apply: Current high school seniors and full-time or part-time, degree-seeking undergraduate and graduate students. You and your parents (if you are a dependent student) must be Maryland residents in legislative district 34B. Students attending certain private career schools may also apply. FIRST YEAR STUDENTS RECEIVE AWARD PRIORITY.
WHEN to apply: Delegate 34B scholarship applications are available at the end of February and must be completed and returned by May 1.
Eligibility Requirements: You must enroll at a two-year or four-year Maryland college or university as a full-time or part-time, degree-seeking undergraduate or graduate student, or attend certain private career schools. Undergraduate students must be enrolled in a minimum of 12 semester hours for Afull time@ status, part-time students must be enrolled in a minimum of 6 semester hours. Full time graduate students must be enrolled in a minimum of 9 semester hours, and part-time graduate students 6 - 8 semester hours.
Eligible Majors: You may use this scholarship at an out-of-state school if your major is not available at a Maryland school and the Office of Student Financial Assistance (OSFA) verifies that your major is unique. Contact the OSFA for further information on unique major status.
Scholarship Renewals: To renew your award, interested students must re-apply each year for consideration. In addition, you must maintain satisfactory academic progress at the institution you attend. .
You may hold the Delegate Scholarship with all State awards. The total dollar amount of all State awards may not exceed your cost of attendance as determined by your school=s financial aid office or $14,200, whichever is less. Funds may not be available to award all eligible students.
Although not required for a delegate scholarship, you should complete and file the FAFSA by March 1.
